The Italian name Guglielmo means - Italian version of the German name William, meaning "unwavering guard." Name of Guglielmo Marconi (1834-1937), Italian scientist and industrialist. In 1909 he shared the Nobel Prize for physics with C. F. Braun. In 1924, he was the first person to connect Great Britain with Australia. It is still a matter of dispute whether he or Bell should be credited with the invention of the telephone.
